The loss of Genesis Development as a processor of recyclable material may be good news for county residents.
According to Jefferson council member Matt Wetrich, who serves as a member of the Greene County Recycling Agency, county residents will see no changes in recycling in the near future.
Not only will recycling remain available, but residents will be able to recycle glass and soda pop/ beer boxes. There may be financial benefits as well, Wetich said.
The drop boxes now located at Genesis Development will be moved to a new location – possibly the water treatment plant on N. Cedar St – before the end of the month.
Residents in towns other than Jefferson may see changes in curbside services later in November, Wetrich said.
He also reminded residents to keep cardboard and paper separate from metal, plastic and glass, and to be sure containers are thoroughly cleaned before recycling.
